Actimize Ltd., a Giza portfolio company, was acquired by NICE Systems Ltd., (NASDAQ: NICE) in a stock and cash transaction valued at $280M.

NICE Systems Ltd. is a leading global provider of integrated digital recording and quality management solutions. The acquisition price represents a multiple of 8.6 times on Giza III’s investment in Actimize.

This marks Giza III’s 12th exit since its establishment in year 2000. Giza III was an early investor in Actimize, which is a leading provider of enterprise software solutions for anti-money laundering, brokerage compliance and fraud prevention.

 
New Investments



Giza led an $8 million round in CellGuide with a $4.5 million investment. CellGuide designs and manufactures high-performance, integrated GPS solutions for mobile devices. CellGuide’s product-line sets a new price and performance standard compared to conventional GPS chips, making on-board GPS possible for more mobile phones and consumer products than ever before.

 
Team Update



Liat Hadad was promoted to Associate at Giza. Liat joined Giza in 2001 and focuses on screening, evaluation, due diligence and business development of companies in the Life Science sector. Formerly, Liat was responsible for the operational component of IBM’s E-Business commerce projects and worked at Girafa.com in Business Development and market research. Liat holds an EMBA in Entrepreneurial Studies, Marketing & Finance and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Political Science, both from Tel Aviv University.



Shai Tsur was also promoted to Associate. Shai joined Giza in 2005. He is involved in sourcing potential companies, as well as the screening and due diligence process. In addition, he provides analysis of industries relevant to portfolio and candidate companies. Prior to joining Giza, Shai was an e-learning specialist helping develop and implement training systems at Comverse, Degem Systems, and Robo-Group. He also has a background as a journalist both in the United States and Israel. Shai holds an MBA, magna cum laude from Bar Ilan University, an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the Hebrew University, and a BA in Economics and History from the University of Texas at Austin.
